Latin rite apostolic administration covering all of Uzbekistan, exempt and directly subject to the Holy See, with its seat at the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in Tashkent. Begun 29 September 1997 as a mission sui iuris separated from the Apostolic Administration of Kazakhstan, it was promoted to an apostolic administration on 1 April 2005.

History
Catholics of Uzbekistan (West Turkistan, Central Asia) are served by the Apostolic Administration of Uzbekistan, a Latin Church pre-diocesan jurisdiction of the Roman Catholic Church that began as an Independent Mission. Exempt, meaning directly subject to the Holy See and outside any ecclesiastical province, it is entitled to a titular bishop. Its episcopal see is the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in Tashkent, the national capital.
