Latin rite apostolic vicariate covering Amazonas state, Venezuela, with its see at Puerto Ayacucho; it is exempt, immediately subject to the Holy See, and has always been led by Salesians. Established 5 February 1932 by Pope Pius XI as the Apostolic Prefecture of Alto Orinoco and elevated to apostolic vicariate on 7 May 1953 by Pope Pius XII. Its cathedral is the Catedral Maria Auxiliadora.

History
A missionary jurisdiction of the Latin Church in Venezuela, the Apostolic Vicariate of Puerto Ayacucho (Latin: Apostolicus Vicariatus Portus Ayacuquensis) belongs to no ecclesiastical province, being immediately exempt to the Holy See. Its cathedral, the Catedral María Auxiliadora, stands in the town of Puerto Ayacucho in Amazonas state.
