The Diocese of Saitama covers Saitama, Tochigi, Gunma, and Ibaraki prefectures north of Tokyo. Established as the Apostolic Prefecture of Urawa in 1939, made a diocese in 1957, and renamed Saitama in 2003, it is led by Bishop Mario Michiaki Yamanouchi, S.D.B.
