St. Therese parish in Alhambra was founded December 25, 1924 and dedicated to St. Therese of the Child Jesus, among the first parishes in the world so named. It is staffed by the Discalced Carmelite Friars, who came to Alhambra in 1923 to serve as chaplains to the cloistered Carmelite nuns.
