Philadelphia's Syro-Malabar community dates to the Indian Catholic Association founded in 1977; the parish purchased a former synagogue in Fox Chase, dedicating it on January 31, 2005 and consecrating it on March 19, 2005. It is one of the forane churches of the Eparchy of Chicago.
