Actress Sharda Harrison performs in play about St. Clare of Assisi

Actress Sharda Harrison wrote, directed, and starred in the play TO GAZE: St. Clare of Assisi, which performed October 16 and 17 at the Church of St. Mary of the Angels in Bukit Batok, Singapore. Harrison portrayed St. Clare, while Franciscan friar Fra Rowland Yeo, OFM, played St. Francis of Assisi.

The production was presented by Saint Max and CANA, a faith-based community and cultural hub, to mark the Jubilee Year of St. Francis of Assisi. This jubilee commemorates 800 years since the death of St. Francis in October 1226. An organizer from CANA stated the play serves as a way to conclude the jubilee celebrations by highlighting the legacy of St. Clare.

The play explores the life of St. Clare and her decision to embrace poverty despite her family's wealth. According to organizers, all proceeds from the performance go to the development office of the Franciscan friars. Harrison previously wrote and directed a production about St. Thérèse of Lisieux for CANA in 2024.
