African communities celebrate unity, and diversity, at annual Mass
African Catholic families from more than 30 countries gathered at Mary, Queen of the Family Parish in Blacktown on Sunday, September 27, 2026, for an annual Mass celebrating their diverse cultures and shared faith.
Vicar General Fr Peter Williams AM joined various priests and deacons for the liturgy. The event returned to the same parish where the first African Mass was held in 2016. The gathering included members of the African Catholic community from Parramatta, Sydney, Broken Bay, and Wollongong.
Fr Ambrose Owusu-Ansah of the Ghanaian Chaplaincy said the celebration honors the gift of community, friendship, and culture through music, song, and faith.
