Istituto Diocesano di Musica Sacra to hold liturgical-musical workshop

The Diocesan Institute of Sacred Music of the Archdiocese of Gaeta will hold liturgical-musical workshops across four deaneries starting in October for the 2026-2027 pastoral year. The sessions are designed for singers, choir directors, assembly leaders, organists, and instrumentalists to provide practical, theological, and musical training for those leading community celebrations.

The workshops will run from 18.30 to 20.00. In the Formia deanery, sessions begin Thursday, 8 October, at the church of San Giovanni Battista. The Minturno deanery begins Monday, 12 October, at the church of Sant’Albina in Scauri. The Fondi deanery starts Wednesday, 14 October, at the Mater Domini institute, and the Gaeta deanery begins Thursday, 15 October, at the sanctuary of the Santissima Annunziata.

The institute stated these workshops follow an invitation from Pope Leo XIV to better understand the role of music in liturgy, moving beyond using music as mere filler to recognizing it as an essential part of the celebrated mystery.
