Almir José Neto designs throne for Nossa Senhora Aparecida

Almir José Neto has designed the throne for the Novena and Feast of Our Lady of Aparecida at the National Shrine. The architect from Campos dos Goytacazes is a specialist in sacred art and has designed the project for the past four years.

The design features white scrolls that unfurl from the image to provide support. According to Neto, these scrolls represent the Word of God and the action of the Holy Spirit. The white color of the scrolls symbolizes the lily and the dove, representing Mary's purity and peace.

Neto designed the exterior to be simple and white, while the interior is gold. He stated that the gold interior represents the nobility and value found within the Christian heart.
