  • Almir José Neto designs throne for Nossa Senhora Aparecida

    Almir José Neto has designed the throne for the Novena and Feast of Our Lady of Aparecida at the National Shrine. The architect from Campos dos Goytacazes is a specialist in sacred art and has designed the project for the past four years. The design features white scrolls that unfurl from the image to provide support. According to Neto, these scrolls represent the Word of God and the action of the Holy Spirit. The white color of the scrolls symbolizes the lily and the dove, representing Mary's purity and peace. Neto designed the exterior to be simple and white, while the interior is gold. He stated that the gold interior represents the nobility and value found within the Christian heart.

  • Paróquia São Sebastião begins emergency work on roof and launches restoration campaign of the Igreja Matriz

    São Sebastião Parish has started emergency repairs on its main church ceiling and launched a fundraising campaign to restore the building. The work began after part of the ceiling detached, prompting priest Gustavo Ribeiro to coordinate with the parish council and pastoral coordinators to ensure the safety of the faithful. Following a mass on Sunday, September 20, volunteers began removing religious images and partially dismantling the presbytery. On Monday, September 21, crews started replacing the old ceiling with new drywall. The parish has not performed structural interventions at the temple for 17 years. The current repairs are the first step in a larger revitalization project. Future plans include improvements to the pews, flooring, side rooms, sacristy, parish office, and secretary office. To fund these works, the parish launched a restoration booklet campaign to invite the local community and diocesan faithful to contribute.
