Archbishop Jean Mbarga closes Cameroon’s Yaoundé Archdiocese Third Diocesan Synod
Archbishop Jean Mbarga identified six pastoral priorities for the Archdiocese of Yaoundé as the Third Diocesan Synod concluded on Wednesday, October 21. During the closing Mass at Our Lady of Victory Cathedral, the Archbishop listed digital evangelization and support for youth employment as key areas of focus.
Other priorities include promoting peace, protecting human life and creation, renewing Catholic education, and achieving administrative excellence. Regarding digital evangelization, Archbishop Mbarga urged Church institutions to use modern technology guided by Christian values to evangelize the digital world and digitalize the Gospel.
To support these goals, the Archbishop announced the creation of a Diocesan Council of Synodality. This council will work with parishes, commissions, movements, and institutions to help the local Church continue to listen, discern, and act together.
