Archdiocese of Siena-Colle di Val d'Elsa-Montalcino presents Santa Caterina da Siena exhibition

The Archdiocese of Siena-Colle di Val d'Elsa-Montalcino presented an upcoming international exhibition titled "St. Catherine of Siena: Ecstasy and Ardour" at the Ministry of Culture in Rome. The exhibition will run from November 28, 2026, to March 30, 2027, at the Santa Maria della Scala museum complex in Siena.

Curators Alessandro Angelini, Gabriele Fattorini, and Michele Maccherini organized the display to examine how the image of St. Catherine evolved between the period following the Council of Trent and the pontificate of Alessandro VII. The collection includes works by artists such as Francesco Vanni, Ventura Salimbeni, Alessandro Casolani, and Rutilio Manetti. The display is organized into six sections focusing on representations of the saint's stigmata, mystical experiences, and ecstasies.

Cardinal Augusto Paolo Lojudice, the archbishop of Siena-Colle di Val d'Elsa-Montalcino, participated in the presentation alongside Siena Mayor Nicoletta Fabio and other officials. A preview for the press and institutions is scheduled for November 27, 2026.
