Benedictine Sister Kimberly Porter elected president of the Monastic Congregation of St. Scholastica

Sister Kimberly Porter, a Benedictine sister from St. Walburg Monastery in Villa Hills, has been elected president of the Monastic Congregation of St. Scholastica. Delegates from 17 Benedictine communities across the United States voted to elect her following a period of nomination and discernment.

The Monastic Congregation of St. Scholastica is one of three congregations for Benedictine sisters in the United States. While the 17 member communities follow a shared constitution, each maintains its own unique monastic norms.

Sister Porter will end her full-time work as a family and child therapist to manage the needs of the congregation. She stated that her decision to accept the role followed a period of prayerful discernment and a sense of peace regarding the call.
