Bishop Daniel E. Thomas praises 2,750 US pregnancy help centers

Bishop Daniel E. Thomas expressed gratitude for the work of approximately 2,750 pregnancy help centers across the United States. Bishop Thomas, who chairs the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops Committee on Pro-Life Activities, issued the statement in observance of Pregnancy Help Appreciation Week, scheduled for November 9–13.

The statement noted that pregnancy help organizations, maternity homes, medical centers, and adoption agencies provide various services to women, babies, and families. Many centers offer free medical services such as ultrasounds, prenatal and postnatal care, and referrals for childbirth. Other resources include baby clothes, diapers, childcare, career services, and housing referrals.

Bishop Thomas also recognized parish volunteers who assist women and families through the Walking with Moms in Need initiative.
