Bishop Goudreault presents President’s Annual Report

Bishop Pierre Goudreault presented the President’s Annual Report during the opening of the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops (CCCB) Plenary Assembly in Montreal on September 21, 2026. The report reviewed the activities and achievements of the episcopal conference since its 2025 meeting.

The report highlighted several developments, including the transfer of 62 cultural artifacts from the Vatican Museums to the National Indigenous Organizations and the Inuvialuit Regional Corporation. This transfer follows a gift from Pope Leo XIV intended to support healing and reconciliation between the Church and Indigenous Peoples. Other highlighted items included the establishment of a national Service for Migrant and Refugee Ministry, the implementation of synodality across Canada, and efforts to increase engagement with the federal government.

During the assembly, which includes Bishop Mark Hagemoen of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Saskatoon, the bishops approved a letter to Pope Leo XIV. Bishop Goudreault signed the letter on behalf of the attending bishops to ask for the Pope's prayers as they determine their pastoral priorities.
