Bishop Nazzareno Marconi blesses the restoration site of the Basilica of San Flaviano

Bishop Nazzareno Marconi blessed the construction site for the restoration of the Basilica of San Flaviano in Recanati on September 29. The ceremony marked the start of work to repair the building, which serves as a significant religious and civil landmark for the city.

The event included Recanati Mayor Emanuele Pepa, retired priest Pietro Spernanzoni, and various civil and military authorities. Representatives from the companies and technical teams managing the project were also present, including engineer Gianfranco Ruffini, architect Mariella Leonori, and the construction firm Edile Paolini Simone.

The basilica, which was elevated to a minor basilica in 1805, contains historical features such as a polychrome wooden coffered ceiling from 1620 and 17th-century stucco and frescoes in the apse. Bishop Marconi stated that restoring the building allows the community to care for a precious site that holds the memory and faith of many generations so it can be passed on to the future.
