Bishop Palumbo celebrates Mass at Madonna della Difesa shrine

Bishop Claudio Palumbo presided over an outdoor Mass at the Madonna della Difesa shrine in Casacalenda on the fourth Sunday of September. The diocesan shrine hosted many pilgrims from across the territory, some of whom traveled on foot, to honor the Virgin Mary.

During his homily, Bishop Palumbo said the shrine serves as a place for people to bring their daily struggles, families, and hopes. He described the title Madonna della Difesa as a reminder that true protection comes from the embrace of a mother rather than human defenses.

The day included several Masses held between 8:00 and 18:00. The choir Amici Sanctae Clarae from Campobasso performed, and the shrine provided space for confessions. Visitors also visited the room for ex votos to witness testimonies of graces received through the intercession of the Madonna della Difesa.
