Bishop Vicent Ribas to preside solemn mass and procession on October 12

Bishop Vicent Ribas will preside over a solemn mass and a traditional procession on Monday, October 12, to celebrate the patronal feast of Our Lady of the Pillar. The events begin at noon at the Our Lady of the Pillar parish in Formentera.

The parish and the local population celebrate this feast in honor of their patroness. The church was built in the 18th century on the Mola plateau after local residents requested a place of worship closer to their homes, as the island's geography made traveling to the San Francisco Javier temple difficult. The building was blessed in 1784 by Manuel Abad y Lasierra, the first bishop of the Diocese of Ibiza.
