  • Bishop of Ibiza participates in 50th anniversary of Pastoral de la Salud

    Bishop Vicent Ribas of Ibiza joined delegates in Madrid to mark 50 years of Pastoral de la Salud in Spain. The meeting, organized by the Department of Pastoral de la Salud of the Spanish Episcopal Conference, brought together leaders from Tuesday through Thursday to discuss the Church's mission to welcome, care for, and accompany the sick. Bishop Ribas attended as president of the episcopal subcommission for Pastoral de la Salud, accompanied by the diocesan delegate, Ana López. The sessions included presentations on hospital ministry, caring for the elderly, and attending to the sick. Participants also reviewed survey results for a new Pastoral de la Salud. The gathering concluded on Thursday with a mass at the Almudena Cathedral and a tribute to the directors and bishops responsible for the ministry during the last 50 years.

    The Diocese of Ibiza will beatify 20 martyred priests on October 17. The diocese has scheduled a series of events to mark the occasion, beginning October 10 and concluding November 6. The beatification ceremony will take place at 11:00 a.m. at the Cathedral of Ibiza. A thanksgiving Mass will be held at the cathedral on October 18. On October 24 and 25, thanksgiving services will be held in all parishes of the diocese of Ibiza and Formentera. The celebrations end on November 6, the first liturgical feast for the new blessed, when Bishop Vicent Ribas will preside over a service at the parish of Nuestra Señora del Pilar in Formentera at 6:00 p.m. The program begins on October 10 at the cathedral with the premiere of a hymn for the martyred priests, a documentary screening, and the opening of the In Memoriam Ad Honorem exhibition at the Pabordía exhibition hall. On October 16, prayer services and vespers are scheduled at Parador, sa Carrossa, the port of La Savina in Formentera, the Sant Carles church plaza, and the Santa Eulària parish church.

    Priest Eddy Martín González, a member of the Child Protection Office for the Diocese of Ibiza, attended the IX meeting of the Church's Child Protection Offices. The gathering examined how artificial intelligence and digital environments create new risks for child abuse. The program included a session on digital ethics and social media risks led by Amparo Alonso Escobar, CEO of Ethical Artificial Intelligence for Human Development SL. Father Antonio Carrón de la Torre, OAR, a professor at the Universidad Gregoriana de Roma, spoke about how artificial intelligence affects pastoral workers. Other sessions focused on practical protection work. Roberto Pérez Conejero of the Religiosos Camilos shared experiences from the healthcare field, while Pilar Polo Polo from the Fundació Vicki Bernadet discussed how to support perpetrators.
