Camden Catholic’s Klopp makes every move count
Lyla Klopp, a junior field hockey midfielder at Camden Catholic High School, is working with her school's chapter of Morgan’s Message to advocate for mental health wellness among student-athletes. Klopp helped members create posters and deliver speeches about mental health awareness during a dedicated Morgan’s Message game against Kingsway on Oct. 14.
The nonprofit honors Morgan Rodgers, a Duke University lacrosse player who died by suicide in 2019 following a knee injury and struggles with depression and anxiety. Klopp said her interest in sports health stems from her own struggles with confidence after sustaining injuries.
Klopp plans to study psychology at the University of Pennsylvania and intends to become an attorney representing defendants in court.
