Communities gather in prayer, celebration of St Francis
Parishioners and staff in the Diocese of Parramatta are observing the Special Jubilee Year of St Francis through various prayers and reflections on his life and dedication to the poor and nature.
At Our Lady of the Rosary Parish in Kellyville, which is cared for by the Conventual Franciscans, parishioners read weekly reflections in the parish bulletin to encourage practical charity. Every Tuesday following evening Mass, the community participates in a Blessing of the Bread to symbolize thanksgiving and compassion for those in need.
Staff at Our Lady of the Rosary Primary School also marked the jubilee during a formation day at the start of Term 2. During this session, staff walked the Jubilee Path and reflected on how to rebuild hope and strengthen relationships within their community. Annie Takchi, the school's Leader of Mission, said the session reminded staff that rebuilding the Church begins with simple acts of faith and care.
