Completas of the Mother of God of the Sogues held in Bellvís

Catholic IntelligenceUpdated 1 min read

Bishop Josep-Lluís Serrano presided over the traditional singing of the Completas at the parish church in Bellvís on Sunday, October 25. The service marked the vigil of the Mother of God of the Sogues, the patroness of Bellvís and the Urgell plain.

The service featured a polyphonic piece for three voices and orchestra composed by Pablo Hernández in the late 19th century, interspersed with Gregorian chant. The local choirs, Espiga d’Or and Cor Banahà, performed under the direction of Cecília Naves.

Ten priests from the Diocese of Urgell concelebrated the service, including Jordi Miquel, the diocesan delegate for sacred music, and Jaume Tarragó. Deacon Antoni Baldomà and Brother Joaquim, superior of the Germans de la Creu Blanca de Castell del Remei, also participated. Following the prayers, the congregation venerated the image of the Mother of God.
