Diocese of Osma-Soria issues statement on allegations against priest

The Diocese of Osma-Soria issued a statement addressing allegations involving a diocesan priest and a minor. The diocese stated it followed established procedures by opening a canonical preliminary investigation to clarify the facts.

The diocese prohibited the priest from performing any functions, activities, or ministries at the parish of Serón de Nágima and barred him from any direct or indirect contact or communication with the minor. These precautionary measures remain in effect.

The family of the minor filed a report with the Guardia Civil on August 17, 2026. The diocese informed the Fiscalía Provincial de Soria of its actions and stated it is cooperating with civil authorities. The diocese also clarified that its documentation does not support reports claiming the complaint was filed between August 9 and August 11.
