Convocation offered deacons a time to be share camaraderie, be renewed in their ministry
Nearly 90 deacons from the four counties of the Diocese of Trenton gathered in Princeton on October 16 and 17 for their annual Convocation of Deacons. The two day event included a three part presentation by Father Jim Grogan, the pastor of Our Lady of Good Counsel Parish in Moorestown.
During a Mass on Saturday morning, Bishop David M. O'Connell served as the principal celebrant and homilist. He thanked the deacons for their service to their parishes and the diocese. In his homily, Bishop O'Connell told the deacons that their ministry extends beyond the altar and requires them to live the Gospel and practice the charity they preach by recognizing Christ in the poor, the lonely, and the suffering.
