Diocese of Huelva rector participates in national meeting of rectors and formators of major seminaries

Juan José Feria Toscano, rector of the Diocesan Seminary of Huelva, attended the LV national meeting of rectors and formators of major seminaries in Madrid from October 16 to 18. The event was organized by the Subcomisión Episcopal para los Seminarios of the Conferencia Episcopal Española.

The meeting focused on the ten-year anniversary of the Ratio Fundamentalis Institutionis Sacerdotalis, published on December 8, 2016. Participants discussed the application of this document in Spanish seminaries and the challenges facing priestly formation, including vocational discernment and affective maturity. Archbishop Jorge-Carlos Patrón Wong of Xalapa, Mexico, presented on the reception and perspectives of the document, specifically regarding the formation of the priestly heart and the stages of the formative process.

The sessions included contributions from Mons. Jesús Pulido, president of the Comisión Episcopal para el Clero y Seminarios, and Mons. Jesús Vidal, president of the Subcomisión Episcopal para los Seminarios. The program also featured a discussion among three seminaries regarding the synthesis stage.
