Briefing and sources: Archbishop Alberto Uy of Cebu warns of values crisis. CBCP News
Archbishop Alberto Uy of Cebu warned of a moral crisis during the second National Spiritual Direction Conference of CHARIS Philippines in Liloan, Cebu. Speaking to Radyo Veritas on Oct. 19, Uy said many people possess sufficient information but lack the values formation necessary to make sound moral decisions.
As the national spiritual adviser for CHARIS Philippines, Uy told the approximately 160 spiritual directors and lay leaders attending the conference that their role includes forming the consciences of the faithful. He urged directors to help people recognize the voice of God rather than acting as a substitute for it.
Uy also cautioned spiritual directors against neglecting their own relationship with God while focusing on the lives of others. He encouraged mentors to deepen their own spiritual lives so they can help the faithful discern God's will without creating a dependency on their directors.

Briefing and sources: Diocese of Lismore to host Assembly in 2027. Diocese of Lismore
Bishop Gregory Homeming has called for a two-stage Diocesan Assembly in 2027 to help the Diocese of Lismore identify shared pastoral priorities.
The process begins with four regional assemblies held in April and May 2027. These gatherings will lead to a final Diocesan Assembly in July 2027, bringing together members from parishes, schools, agencies, and various communities across the diocese.
Participants will use prayer and dialogue to consider practical actions for the future mission and pastoral life of the local Church. The assembly serves a consultative role to assist the bishop through shared discernment rather than acting as a legislative body with juridical authority. This gathering follows six years of listening and consultation within the diocese.

Briefing and sources: Bishop Michele sends don Davide Crespi on a mission to Paraguay. Diocese of Treviso
Bishop Michele Tomasi sent Father Davide Crespi on a mission to the Diocese of San Juan Bautista de las Misiones y Ñeembucú in Paraguay during a missionary vigil in Trebaseleghe.
During the service, Bishop Tomasi told Father Crespi that his departure is a response to both a personal calling and the request of the Church. The bishop noted that Father Crespi will join a community in Paraguay that already includes priests and laypeople from the Treviso diocese, specifically mentioning Father Lorenzo, Lucia, and Paola.
Bishop Tomasi stated that while the diocese loses a priest, the mission serves as a way to remain open to the wider world rather than focusing solely on local problems. He described the mission not as an attempt to export a specific model or occupy space, but as a way to help others become disciples.
