Diocese of Venice hosts priestly discernment day

Catholic IntelligenceUpdated 1 min read

The Diocese of Venice held its first men's priestly discernment day on Oct. 10, 2026, at St. John the Evangelist Parish in Naples. Organized by the diocesan Vocations Office, the event brought together two dozen men between the ages of 16 and 35 to explore the priesthood.

The program included talks on virtue and moving from fear to freedom, a rosary walk to the beach, and discussions with priests, seminarians, and peers. The event title, "Verso l'alto," refers to the motto of Blessed Pier Giorgio Frassati.

Father Alex Pince, the diocesan Vocations Director, helped lead the day alongside Father Jacob Gwynn, a parochial vicar at St. John the Evangelist. Father David Vidal, the diocesan vicar general, served as the principal celebrant for the Mass and spoke on behalf of Bishop Emilio E. Biosc.
