Diocese to Celebrate All Saints Day and Black Catholic History Month
Bishop Erik Pohlmeier will celebrate a special Mass at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 1, at the Cathedral Basilica of St. Augustine to mark All Saints Day and the start of Black Catholic History Month. The event, themed “Faith. Heritage. Holiness.”, begins with a musical prelude at 1:30 p.m. and includes a reception featuring African, African American, and Caribbean cuisine.
The Diocese of Saint Augustine organized the gathering through its Black Catholic Ministry within the Office of Multicultural Ministry. The celebration highlights seven Black Catholics currently on the path to sainthood. Additional Masses and cultural events are planned throughout the diocese during November to recognize the contributions and heritage of Black Catholics.
