Dom Ricardo Hoepers celebrates 74 years of CNBB

Dom Ricardo Hoepers, the auxiliary bishop of Brasília and general secretary of the National Conference of Bishops of Brazil (CNBB), marked the 74th anniversary of the organization in a video message on October 14, 2026. Hoepers noted that the CNBB was founded in Rio de Janeiro on October 14, 1952, to foster communion among the country's bishops.

The CNBB currently includes nearly 500 bishops and operates through 19 regional offices and 12 episcopal commissions. Hoepers stated that the conference works to promote solidarity and collegiality among bishops to serve the Church and the Gospel. He requested prayers and unity for the evangelization efforts following the general guidelines of the Church in Brazil.

The general secretary mentioned that the institution is already preparing for its 75th anniversary and the 50th anniversary of the CNBB in Brazil, which will take place in 2027.
