Dr. Daniel Drain, Sofia Zacharczuk named USCCB Advisory Council officers

Dr. Daniel Drain and Sofia Zacharczuk have been named officers for the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) Advisory Council for the Administrative Committee. The council advises bishops across the country on major issues facing the American Church.

Dr. Drain, a theology professor at St. Charles Borromeo Seminary and director of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia’s Office for Life and Family, will serve as chair. His term begins as chair-elect in 2027, followed by a year as chair in 2028 and a year as past chair in 2029.

Sofia Zacharczuk, chief of staff for the Ukrainian Catholic Archeparchy of Philadelphia led by Metropolitan Archbishop Borys Gudziak, will serve as the council secretary for a three-year term. Zacharczuk represents Eastern Catholic churches on the council. The Administrative Committee typically meets every March and September and includes the USCCB president, committee chairs, and regional representatives.
