History
Southeastern Pennsylvania is home to the Archdiocese of Philadelphia (Latin: Archidiœcesis Philadelphiensis), a Catholic diocese in the United States. Nelson J. Pérez serves as archbishop, and his seat is the Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul in Philadelphia.

Archbishop Nelson Pérez celebrated Mass during the 12th annual AbbeyFest on Sept. 19 at the National Shrine of Our Lady of Czestochowa in Doylestown. The event gathered the community for a day of music, food, and faith, which included Eucharistic adoration. The concert featured several musical performers, including American Idol finalist Danny Gokey as the headliner. Other performers included Seph Schlueter, Sarah Kroger, Brother Isaiah, and Joe Melendrez.

Five New Culture Project Missionaries Begin Service in Philadelphia Archdiocese
Five new missionaries from Culture Project International have started working with young people across the five-county Philadelphia Archdiocese. Bernie Senger IV, Laura Hilkert, Jenna Espiritu, Carlos Hernandez, and Sabrina Vizurraga will spend the next year visiting schools, parishes, and PREP programs. The missionaries will give presentations to high school students, middle school students, and young adults. These talks cover topics such as human dignity, virtue, authentic love, and the value of living chastely. Archbishop Nelson J. Pérez approved an official Culture Project chapter for the Archdiocese of Philadelphia in 2021. The group uses Catholic social teaching and the Theology of the Body to help young people recognize human dignity. BLOCS Names Retired SEI Executive to Board
Business Leadership Organized for Catholic Schools (BLOCS) has added John Steinmetz to its Board of Directors. Steinmetz is a resident of Oaks and the retired chief technology officer at SEI Investments. BLOCS CEO Rob Delany said Steinmetz will use his experience in technology, operations, and organizational growth to help the scholarship organization expand throughout Pennsylvania. Steinmetz previously served as an executive at PECO Energy. The scholarship organization currently serves more than 43,000 students at 584 schools across the state. BLOCS partners with over 500 schools to provide need-based scholarships by using the Pennsylvania Educational Improvement Tax Credit (EITC) and Opportunity Scholarship Tax Credit (OSTC) programs. These programs allow businesses and individuals to redirect part of their state tax liability to support eligible schools in exchange for tax credits.
