«Empezamos muy esperanzados»: el Teologado San Juan de la Cruz duplica su número de seminaristas

The San Juan de la Cruz Seminary in Salamanca has doubled its number of seminarians for the new academic year, according to Rector Gaspar Hernández Peludo. The institution, which trains seminarians from the Diocese of Ávila and several sister dioceses, grew from 17 to 34 students.

Hernández Peludo attributed the increase to the return of all seminarians from the Diocese of León and a rise in new students entering the propedeutic stage. Twelve students are beginning their formation in this initial phase.

The Diocese of Ávila has 7 seminarians enrolled this year. This group includes 3 new students in the propedeutic stage, two of whom are from the local diocese and one from an Italian diocese who will join the Ávila community. Other students from the diocese include Deacon Ismael and Manuel, who has received the ministries of lector and acolyte.
