Bishop Gabriel Escobar to join Archdiocese of Asunción

Bishop Gabriel Narciso Escobar Ayala joins the Archdiocese of Asunción as auxiliary bishop on Sunday, September 27. He will assist Cardinal Adalberto Martínez with the governance, administration, and pastoral care of the archdiocese.

This appointment marks the first time the Archdiocese of Asunción has had an auxiliary bishop in 26 years. Escobar Ayala previously served as the pastor of the Apostolic Vicariate of the Paraguayan Chaco, a jurisdiction he has administered since 2013.
