The Archdiocese of Asunción is the primatial see of Paraguay, established as the Diocese of Paraguay in 1547 and elevated to a metropolitan archdiocese in 1929. It is led by Cardinal Adalberto Martínez Flores and its see is the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Assumption.

History
In Paraguay, the Roman Catholic Church maintains the Archdiocese of the Blessed Assumption (Latin: Archidioecesis Sanctissimae Assumptionis), an ecclesiastical territory of the Roman Catholic Church.
