Felician Sisters in Kenya urged to Emulate Late Superior’s Life of Service
Archbishop Anthony Muheria of the Catholic Archdiocese of Nyeri encouraged the Felician Sisters in Kenya to follow the example of their late Vice Provincial Minister, Sister Mary Purity Wawira Ireri. During a funeral Mass at Sts. Peter and Paul Cathedral in the Diocese of Embu on October 21, the Archbishop spoke of Sister Ireri's commitment to service and her efforts to discern the will of God.
Sister Ireri died on October 12 at Mater Misericordiae Hospital in Nairobi after a short illness. She was buried on October 21 at the Felician Sisters’ Cemetery in Embu.
Archbishop Muheria noted that Sister Ireri frequently sought his guidance regarding the leadership of the Congregation of the Sisters of St. Felix of Cantalice. He described her as a leader who felt a deep responsibility for the well-being of her fellow sisters, noting that her concerns for the congregation were central to her religious life.
