Daughters of the Heart of Jesus hold 16th pilgrimage for Saint Teresa Verzeri

The Daughters of the Heart of Jesus held the 16th Pilgrimage of Saint Teresa Verzeri on Sunday, October 18, at the Recanto Coração de Jesus. This year's theme was "Saint Teresa, Saint for the world, pray for us."

The pilgrimage aims to increase knowledge of Saint Teresa Verzeri, the Italian founder of the congregation who was canonized by Pope John Paul II. The order was established to provide education, health, and catechesis to orphaned girls.

Sister Rauligletia de Sousa Silva stated that the congregation focuses on charity and providing basic services in areas where the state is often absent. The sisters work to promote spiritual and intellectual education.

The event coincides with the 19th Jornada da Solidariedade. Each year, the Council of the congregation selects one of its most impoverished realities to receive support through missionary actions from sisters across all continents.
