Golfers tee up support for Catholic schools
The Diocese of Dallas Bishop’s Invitational Golf Tournament raised more than $735,000 to provide tuition assistance for pre-K through eighth grade students at Catholic schools throughout the diocese. The Sept. 28 event at Stonebriar Country Club included more than 50 teams and 123 sponsors, bringing the tournament's 16-year fundraising total to over $10 million.
During the CHRISTUS Health Scholarship Awards Breakfast, students from 10 Catholic schools were recognized for receiving assistance through the tournament. Bishop Edward J. Burns joined school leaders and representatives from title sponsor CHRISTUS Health to honor the recipients. Jeannette Lambert, the superintendent of Catholic schools for the diocese, said the funds help families access Catholic education who might not otherwise be able to attend.
