Gorleston Mini Vinnies Turn Concern Into Action
Students in the Mini Vinnies group at St Mary and St Peter Catholic Primary School in Gorleston, Norfolk, met with Operation Christmas Child volunteers Mark and Debra Watkins. The visit explained how shoeboxes filled with toys, hygiene items, and school supplies are delivered to children in more than 170 countries.
The volunteers thanked the school community for contributing more than 20 shoeboxes to the project last year. During the visit, the students learned about the logistics of transporting the gifts to children in need. Teacher Mrs. Hardman noted on the school website that the visit helped pupils understand the impact of these gifts and messages on children who may not otherwise receive presents.
Operation Christmas Child has delivered more than 244 million shoeboxes since 1990.
