Guadalupe torches are newly lit; set out on pilgrimage around the Diocese
The Diocese of Trenton began its annual pilgrimage of the Guadalupe torches, known as Las Antorchas Guadalupanas, with a procession and lighting ceremony at St. Mary of the Assumption Cathedral in Trenton on Oct. 24. Father Erwin Candelaria, the cathedral parochial vicar, lit the torches during the Vigil Mass.
The traveling torches will visit various parishes through November. St. Paul Parish in Princeton will light the Tilma Torch on Nov. 1 at 1 p.m., and St. Joseph Parish in Trenton will light the Apparition Torch on Nov. 15 at 11:30 a.m. Visitation Parish in Brick is scheduled to light the Empress Torch at 11 a.m.
The 11th annual tradition concludes on Dec. 4 with a closing event at St. Joseph Parish, Toms.
