Inauguració de l’Any Acadèmic al Seminari Major Interdiocesà de Catalunya

Cardinal Joan Josep Omella presided over the opening of the 2026-2027 academic year for the Ateneu Universitari Sant Pacià at the Seminari Conciliar de Barcelona on October 8, 2026. Bishops from the dioceses with seats in Catalunya attended the event, including Bishop Josep-Lluís Serrano, Bishop Emeritus Joan-Enric Vives, and the Vicar General and rector of the Seminari diocesà d’Urgell, Antoni Elvira.

Dr. Joan Torra, who was recently appointed for a second trienni as rector of the Ateneu Universitari Sant Pacià, announced the research theme "La persona humana: cap, cor, cos." This theme continues work from the previous year regarding Antoni Gaudí and addresses challenges posed by artificial intelligence.

Dr. Torra explained that studying the human person through the dimensions of intelligence, soul, and physical incarnation allows for engagement with artificial intelligence without becoming enslaved to it.
