Justice Amy Coney Barrett headlines Benedictine College library dedication
U.S. Supreme Court Justice Amy Coney Barrett delivered the keynote address at the dedication of Independence Hall, the new library at Benedictine College, on Sept. 26.
Barrett expressed hope that the library would help students defend the American project by providing a space to discuss new ideas, build friendships, and learn to disagree respectfully. She noted that in an era of hyper-polarization, citizens must learn to debate ideas without making enemies of those who hold different beliefs.
Other speakers at the event included Jerry Moran, Benedictine College President Stephen Minnis, Board of Directors Chairman Michael Kuckelman, and Dean and Provost Kimberly Shankman. Abbot James Albers of St. Benedict Abbey led the prayers for the dedication.
