Kentucky priest resigns amid allegations he mishandled assault complaint (Louisville Courier Journal)

Father David Sanchez has resigned from his parish in the Archdiocese of Louisville following allegations that he mishandled an assault complaint.

A former janitor filed a lawsuit alleging that Sanchez dismissed her claims that a lay supervisor was assaulting her at the parish. The lawsuit claims Sanchez told the woman she was lying about the incidents and noted he was very good friends with the supervisor. The lawsuit also alleges Sanchez told the woman her family would be threatened if she reported the incidents.

Archbishop Shelton Fabre had previously placed Sanchez on administrative leave.
