The Archdiocese of Louisville is a Latin Rite metropolitan see covering central Kentucky, originally erected as the Diocese of Bardstown in 1808 and elevated to an archdiocese in 1937. Archbishop Shelton J. Fabre has led it since 2022.

History
Central Kentucky is home to the Archdiocese of Louisville (Latin: Archidiœcesis Ludovicopolitanais), the second-oldest diocese west of the Appalachian Mountains. As the metropolitan see of the province of Louisville, its province takes in the states of Kentucky and Tennessee. The Cathedral of the Assumption in Louisville is the cathedral church, and Shelton Fabre is the archbishop.
