Northwest Catholic High School freshmen serve community
Eighty-five freshmen from Northwest Catholic High School volunteered at eight different sites in Hartford, West Hartford, and Newington during their annual Day of Service on Sept. 29. The event helps ninth graders begin meeting the school's requirement of 45 community service hours for graduation.
The students served at locations including the Cathedral Food Pantry, the West Hartford Fire Department, Levo International’s hydroponic farm, and two Catholic Charities Archdiocese of Hartford sites. At the Institute for the Hispanic Family in Hartford and the Limitless day program in Newington, students assisted with various tasks.
At the Limitless program, which provides services for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, six students worked alongside Elizabeth Farnham, the director of formation and ministry at Northwest Catholic High School. These students participated in activities such as making crafts, playing board games, performing cleaning tasks, and joining the program's nature initiative.
