Bishops of Galicia approve creation of Church Support Office
The bishops of Galicia have approved the creation of the Church Support Office to serve the dioceses of the ecclesiastical province of Santiago. Archbishop Francisco José Prieto of Santiago, Bishop Alfonso Carrasco of Lugo, Bishop Leonardo Lemos of Ourense, Bishop Fernando García of Mondoñedo-Ferrol, and Bishop Antonio Valín of Tui-Vigo signed a decree establishing the office on September 22. The office will be based in the Archdiocese of Santiago and has received an initial three-year approval.
The office will provide technical advice to dioceses and parishes to encourage administrative best practices and training for those in financial roles. It intends to promote the shared responsibility of the faithful in supporting the Church, ensuring resources are available for worship, apostolate, and charity. To achieve this, the office will coordinate common campaigns with diocesan support commissions and develop shared educational materials and studies.
