Parishioners in the Eastern Deanery unite in the first-ever Children’s Liturgy Ministers Network
Volunteers from three Sydney parishes held the first Children’s Liturgy Ministers Network meeting on 20 October. Ministers from the parishes of Malabar-Matraville, Botany, and Maroubra Bay Beach met in the Eastern Deanery Southern Cluster to discuss methods for teaching the Gospel to young children.
The meeting was one of three priorities identified through a collaboration between the Sydney Centre for Evangelisation Parish Renewal Team and the parishes of the Eastern Deanery Southern Cluster. The cluster also identified a need to collaborate on a faith formation event to prepare for Eucharist28.
During the gathering, ministers discussed successful practices and challenges in leading children's liturgy. Mary-Rose Garcia, the catechist coordinator at St Mary and St Joseph in Maroubra Bay Beach, said the meeting provided encouragement and a sense of shared purpose for those working in the ministry.
