Holy Spirit Academy pilgrims attend beatification Mass of Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen
Students and staff from Holy Spirit Academy in Monticello traveled to St. Louis to attend the beatification Mass for Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen on Sept. 24. Approximately 30 students from the school participated in the pilgrimage, which included 24 students from the ninth through twelfth grades traveling by bus alongside four staff members and about a dozen parents. Other families and alumni traveled to the event separately.
Archbishop Sheen has served as the patron of Holy Spirit Academy since the school opened in 2014. Headmaster Andrew Lang said the school's founders were inspired by the archbishop's ability to evangelize and communicate faith to a wide audience. The archbishop's writings are included in the school's theology curriculum, and students read a prayer for his intercession every day.
