Pro-life office to host discussion on end of life care, pro-life perspective
The Diocese of Covington Pro-life Office and the Catholic Medical Association will host a discussion titled “A Catholic Perspective to End of Life Care” on Oct. 17. The event will take place at the Bishop Howard Memorial Auditorium in Covington.
Guest speaker Jozef Zalot from the National Catholic Bioethics Center will join attorney Paul Darpel, Father Raymond Enzweiler, dean of Thomas More University, and Addia Wuchner, executive director of Kentucky Right to Life. The panel will address Catholic teaching on euthanasia and physician assisted suicide, as well as pro-life perspectives on hydration, nutrition, and pain medication. Participants will also discuss advance directives, including living wills and power of attorney.
Faye Roch, director of the Pro-life Office, said discussing end-of-life care is important because pro-life issues often arise when people reach the end of life due to old age or illness. The event aims to help people understand the ethics of life support and nutrition when making decisions for loved ones.
