Roman Curia Apostolic Penitentiary to host worldwide webinar on the Sacrament of Reconciliation

The Apostolic Penitentiary will host a global webinar on October 23-24 to discuss the Sacrament of Reconciliation. The event features six presentations from cardinals, clergy, and professors, including a session for personal testimonies.

The presentations will cover the biblical foundations of contrition, the differences between guilt, regret, repentance, and contrition, the steps required for true repentance, and the pastoral and sacramental dimensions of the sacrament.

As one of the justice organs within the Roman Curia, the Apostolic Penitentiary manages matters such as indulgences, pardons, absolutions from censures, and dispensations. The office holds the primary mission of helping the faithful find reconciliation with God and the Church. This webinar follows a similar event held in late October 2025 that focused on the examination of conscience.
