Saint Francis University Launches $20,000 Altoona-Johnstown Catholic Leadership Scholarship

Saint Francis University has introduced the Altoona-Johnstown Catholic Leadership Scholarship, a $20,000 award for students from the Diocese of Altoona-Johnstown. The scholarship provides $5,000 annually over four years to students who attend public high schools and are active members of local parishes.

To qualify, students must demonstrate leadership through service to the Church, parish involvement, and worship. University President Very Rev. Malachi Van Tassell, T.O.R., Ph.D., said the award supports leaders grounded in faith who are prepared to serve the Church and their communities.

This new scholarship works alongside existing financial awards for students coming from Catholic high schools, including those in the university's Partnership for Excellence in the Advancement of Catholic Education (PEACE) Program. Together, these programs aim to reduce financial barriers for Catholic students from both public and Catholic secondary schools.
